Annual Report 1999

EURASIAN APPLICATIONS STATISTICS

In the first 4 years of the Eurasian Patent Organization's activity, 2778 Eurasian applications have been filed with the Eurasian Patent Office.

The number of Eurasian applications filed each year, and their categories are shown in Diagram 1.

The bulk of Eurasian applications are filed under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). In 1999 the number of international applications designating the Eurasian patent and filed with the World Intellectual Property Organization amounted to 56% (+3% compared to 1998).

A total of 2318 Eurasian application was filed in 4 years via the PCT procedure (9 in 1996; 374 in 1997; 967 in 1998; 968 in 1999), which amounted to about 83% of the total number of applications received. Diagram 2 shows the distribution of Eurasian applications depending on the specifics on their filing procedure.

A total of 193 applications were filed via national offices (39 in 1996; 41 in 1997; 53 in 1998; 60 in 1999), which amounted to about 7% of the total. 267 applications were filed directly with EAPO (70 in 1996; 41 in 1997; 53 in 1998; 89 in 1999), or 10% of the total number applications filed.
