The Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO) hosted a seminar on the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Standards on June 29, 2017. WIPO Standards Section specialist on industrial property information Ms. Anna Graschenkova, the designated WIPO lector, delivered a presentation and took part in the follow-up discussion.

The main objective of the seminar was to familiarize the EAPO staff with WIPO activities in the field of standardization, as well as to consider certain aspects of the implementation of WIPO standards in the EAPO.

The participants reviewed the existing WIPO standards, the practices of industrial property offices in the field of patent information processing and publication, as well as the information resources provided by WIPO for patent offices and patent information users at large, explored the activities of the Committee on WIPO Standards and its Task Forces.

After the completion of the training part of the seminar, the heads and specialists of the EAPO’s departments concerned discussed the use of WIPO standards in the Eurasian Patent Office and plans on the introduction into EAPO practice of a number of new standards, including the standard on the exchange of patent legal status data.
