The specialists from the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO) participated in the WIPO Summer School held in Astana on June 17-28.

For the past three years, the National Institute of Intellectual Property (QAZPATENT) in Kazakhstan has been hosting an intense two-week training course on intellectual property law. This year, representatives not only from Kazakhstan but also from Belarus, Moldova and Russia joined the training.

Today, the participants found out about the specifics of the Eurasian patent for industrial design. EAPO examiner Assemgul Abenova explained how to avoid confusing similarity of a verbal element in a design with a trademark of a third party and how to indicate when filing an application that the graphical user interface applied for registration is available for viewing on the screen display and what it provides.

The Eurasian Universiade laureates from the Republic of Kazakhstan received awards from the Eurasian Patent Office.
