The EAPO Administrative Council completed its two-day session in Moscow. This is a representative body comprising representatives of all 8 Member States of the Eurasian Patent Organization.

The Administrative Council summarizes the results and determines new aspects of the functioning of the Eurasian Patent Organization at least once a year.

Outcomes of the session:

  • to index the amounts of certain fees. These new fees will apply from February 1, 2025;
  • to clarify the provisions of the Patent Regulations under the Eurasian Patent Convention on the examination of inventions;
  • to amend the provisions that will expand the use of mediation in settlement of disputes on Eurasian industrial designs;
  • update the Regulations on the Permanent Working Group on Information Technologies to facilitate cooperation on the digitalization of offices.

The EAPO Administrative Council participants also decided to award those who significantly contributed to the development of inventive activity and patenting in the Eurasian region with the V.I. Blinnikov Gold Medal “For Promoting Invention and Patent Practice.”

The following persons were honored with awards:

  • Sergey Chizhik, First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus;
  • Leonid Tanin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Joint Stock Company “Holography Industry,” honored Inventor of the Republic of Belarus;
  • Abdildu Meirbekov, current member of the International Academy of Informatization of the Republic of Kazakhstan, honored Inventor of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
  • Kamida Iskakova, Candidate of Biological Sciences;
  • Yury Zubov, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Russian Federation in the EAPO Administrative Council;
  • Kristine Hambaryan, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Armenia in the EAPO Administrative Council;
  • Yerbol Ospanov, Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the EAPO Administrative Council.
