On December 31, 2021, the President of the Republic of Belarus signed the Law of the Republic of Belarus № 137-3 “On Accession of the Republic of Belarus to the Protocol on the Protection of Industrial Designs to the Eurasian Patent Convention of September 9, 1994”.

The Law was adopted by the House of Representatives of the National Assembly on December 8, 2021 and approved by the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus on December 17, 2021.

The Protocol on the Protection of Industrial Designs was adopted by the Member States of the Eurasian Patent Convention on September 9, 2019 at a diplomatic conference in Nur-Sultan, the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In accordance with Article 22(4) of the Protocol on the Protection of Industrial Designs, the Protocol will come into force for the Republic of Belarus in three months after depositing the instrument of accession with the WIPO Director General.

Currently, the Protocol on the Protection of Industrial Designs has entered into force for the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan.
