Emil Mammadov, Counsel to the President of the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO), reported about the successful cooperation between the National Center of Intellectual Property (NCIP) and the EAPO. The IV International Scientific and Practical Conference “Intellectual Property in the Modern World: Challenges of Time and Development Prospects” is currently held in Minsk.

Emil Mammadov noted that in 2023 the number of Eurasian patents for inventions in Belarus increased by 28%, for industrial designs by 33%. He acknowledged the activities carried out by NCIP.

“The international competition “Discovering the World of IP. 2024,” organized with the EAPO assistance, is one of such successful projects. More than 1,300 people took part in the competition in 2023. The “Best Patent of Belarus” contest was a significant accomplishment. The EAPO participated in the awarding of the best contestants with great pleasure. We found out in the “Best Belarus Patent” materials that many nominees, such as the Institute of Experimental Veterinary Medicine named after S.N. Vyshelesky, own Eurasian patents,” Mammadov said.

Emil Mammadov highlighted a number of other areas for successful cooperation. For example, a project on creation of a common Eurasian register. This year, NCIP has participated in the pilot project for approving standard forms for electronic transmission of data on national patents for inventions included in the Eurasian Pharmaceutical Register to the EAPO. Additionally, Belarus has joined the Eurasian Patent Prosecution Highway program (EA-PPH), which is under development. In the field of IT cooperation, NCIP specialists independently implemented a project on mastering the technologies of handling 3D models. EAPO created a special version of the EAPATIS search system at the NCIP proposal. Educational programs. NCIP always actively participates in all seminars and conferences organized by the EAPO.

On the sidelines of the IV International Scientific and Practical Conference on Intellectual Property Emil Mammadow awarded the following persons with the V.I. Blinnikov Gold Medal “For Promoting Invention and Patent Practice”: Sergei Chizhik, First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, academician and professor, scientist in the field of physics and mechanics of microscopic and nano-objects and Leonid Tanin, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Chairman of the Scientific and Technical Council and Chief Advisor of ‘Holographic Industry’ CJSC, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Honoured Inventor of the Republic of Belarus.
