On July 28, 2022, the ninth meeting of the Permanent Working Group on Information Technologies (PWGI) of the Administrative Council of the Eurasian Patent Organization (EAPO) was held via videoconference.


The session was attended by representatives of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as the Eurasian Patent Office. Following the proposal of the PWGI members, Emil Mammadov, Vice-President of the Eurasian Patent Office, was unanimously elected Chairman of the PWGI.

In accordance with the competence of the PWGI, the session considered various aspects of the development of interaction between the Eurasian Office and the national patent offices of the EAPO member states in the field of information technology.

As a result of the PWGI session, the relevance of existing joint information projects on technical assistance to the activities of the patent offices of the EAPO member states, providing access to EAPO information resources, and production of a joint information product CISPATENT was noted; further development of these projects was recommended. The interest of the patent offices of the EAPC Contracting states to study possible joint use of IT tools and solutions implemented as part of projects to digitalize the activities of the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent) was also noted.

The PWGI also decided to instruct the Eurasian Office to consider inclusion of a new project on the introduction and use of tools and technical solutions for working with 3D models in the list of joint information projects.
