Dmitry Rogozhin, Head of the EAPO Examination Department, on behalf of EAPO welcomed the participants of the regional seminar and expressed gratitude to Kyrgyzpatent for organizing the seminar and WIPO for the continuous support in development of national patent systems of the EAPC Contracting States.

Mr. Rogozhin spoke about the usage of PCT system within the framework of the Eurasian patent system and shared the EAPO practice as a designated and selected office.

EAPO is an active part of the PCT system, and about 80% of the annual number of applications received by EAPO are international applications on the regional examination phase. EAPO extensively uses various information services developed and maintained by WIPO, such as PatentScope, Digital Access Service (WIPO DAS), Centralized Access to Search and Examination (WIPO CASE), and e-PCT system, as well as providing an opportunity, under the PPH program, to accelerate the examination of applications based on PCT products prepared by patent offices in Korea, Japan and the European Patent Office.
