On December 17, 2020 the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva Andranik Hovhannisyan deposited the instrument of ratification of the Protocol on the Protection of Industrial Designs to the Eurasian Patent Convention with the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Daren Tang.

The Republic of Armenia has become the third State party to the Eurasian Patent Convention to deposit the instrument of ratification of the Protocol with the Director General of WIPO.

Thus, in accordance with Article 22(4), the Protocol shall enter into force within three months in respect of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia.

The entry into force of the Protocol will be a milestone in the creation of the Eurasian system of legal protection of industrial designs – a new interstate system of intellectual property protection in the Eurasian region.
