Grigory Ivliev had a meeting with Farhad Abdullayev, Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Kamran Imanov, Chairman of the Board of the Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The parties discussed the prospects for the development of intellectual property in the Eurasian region. Grigory Ivliev highlighted the demand for new regional IP objects (unitary Eurasian trademark and unitary Eurasian utility model) and shared his views on improving the dispute resolution system and establishing a unitary Eurasian patent court.

Farhad Abdullayev emphasized the significance of special IP courts and noted that this issue requires careful consideration.

Grigory Ivliev highly appreciated the system of public administration of IP in the Republic of Azerbaijan. He noted that the EAPO promotes Azerbaijan’s advanced experience in the establishment of a unitary court.

The parties also focused on the concept of exhaustion of rights. Kamran Imanov presented the advantages of a unitary body in IP field, which ensures both copyright and IP protection.

The parties agreed to hold the fourth international scientific and practical conference “Author 2025” in Baku. It will be focused on enhancing the status of authors.

A distinguished alumnus of Lomonosov Moscow State University’s Faculty of Law Farhad Abdullayev accepted an invitation to deliver a speech at his alma mater from Grigory Ivliev, the alumni association’s chair.
