June 22, 2016: Round-table “Exchange of Experience and Best Practices in Foreign Filing” was held at the Headquarters of the EAPO, Moscow, under the chairmanship of the EAPO President Mrs. S. Tlevlessova. The Round-table was organized within the frameworks of the meeting of the intellectual property office heads of BRICS countries (June 21-22, 2016, Moscow).

Delegations of India, Russian Federation, People’s Republic of China, Republic of South Africa and the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO) took part in the Round-table.

In her welcome speech the EAPO President S. Tlevlessova noted the importance of cooperation and of meetings of intellectual property office heads of states the cumulative quantity of whose population makes 42% of the world population, and the cumulative GDP makes 27% of the world GDP. S. Tlevlessova highlighted that the Eurasian Patent Organization, which is unifying eight countries of the region, five of them being member-states of the Eurasian Economic Union, is aimed at development of intellectual property through strengthening cooperation with the patent offices of BRICS member-states. Such cooperation will be of benefit to the overall development of economic relations among the regions.

It was with great attention and interest that the guests listened to the communications of the EAPO presenting the general principles of functioning of the Eurasian Patent System (D. ROGOZHIN, Director of Examination Department, EAPO), the electronic services of the Eurasian Patent Office (A. SEKRETOV, Patent Information and Automation Department, EAPO). The EAPO representatives answered numerous questions of the Round-table participants both, in the course of the Round-table and during the tour in the Office at workplaces.

The participants were also delivered presentations on Rospatent participation in PPH program, (O. MOSKVITINA, Deputy Head of Division, Federal Institute of Industrial Property), on support to foreign patenting in Skolkovo (A. Pushkov, Managing Partner, Intellectual Property Centre Skolkovo), on different programs of support to Russian producers and exporters being realized at present by the Russian Export Centre (O. DYACHENKO, Project Manager in intellectual property, Russian Export Centre) and on ROSNANO SC (V. KALYATIN, Principal Lawyer in intellectual property, ROSNANO).

Concluding the Round-table the EAPO President S. Tlevlessova expressed hope for successful continuation and development of cooperation, as well as on partnering of the EAPO with the patent offices of BRICS member-states. Rospatent Director General Mr. G. Ivliev mentioned with satisfaction that in EAPO BRICS association obtained a new partner.
