Homepage / Press-center / News / Press-release on the results of the XXVII session of the Administrative Council of the Eurasian Patent Organization

On November 6-8, 2013 the XXVII session of the Administrative Council of the Eurasian Patent Organization (AC EAPO) was held at the EAPO headquarters. The session was attended by the plenipotentiary representatives of Republic of Armenia, Republic of Belarus, Republic of Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation, and Republic of Turkmenistan, and also by deputy plenipotentiary representatives of Republic of Tajikistan and Kyrgyz Republic, and well as delegates from the Russian Federation. A representative from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has attended the session in observer’s capacity. The session was chaired by Mr. Annaniyazov A.B., Chairman of the EAPO Administrative Council and plenipotentiary representative of the Republic of Turkmenistan.

The session reviewed and approved EAPO’s Annual Report 2012 and adopted EAPO Budget for year 2014. As part of the discussions of EAPO Budget 2014 it was decided to hold two regional seminars in 2014 on topical issues in the field of Intellectual Property – in Republic of Tajikistan and on issues of legal protection of medicaments and other issues related to their protection, – in Kyrgyz Republic.

The session reviewed a number of questions in relation to making amendments and additions to EAPO Normative Legal Acts. In particular, AC EAPO decided to make amendments and additions to Patent Regulations under the Eurasian Patent Convention, associated with granting official status to documents of Eurasian applications and patents, presented electronically. Amendments and additions were made to the Administrative Regulations under the Eurasian Patent Convention, which are directed at further improvement of the provisions and implementation of decisions made by the twenty sixth AC EAPO. The agreed amendments and additions to the EAPO Normative Legal Acts will enter into force on January 1, 2014.

The EAPO Administrative Council took into consideration the information about the session of the Permanent working group on Information Technologies AC EAPO and discussed a number of organizational issues.

Administrative Council of the EAPO approved the decision to award representatives of the EAPO member-states with V.I.Blinnikov Gold medal “For the Contribution to Inventive and Patent Activities”.

The next ordinary session of the AC EAPO is scheduled to be held in November 2014, in Moscow.
