EAPO President Grigory Ivliev made a general statement at the meeting of the Assemblies of the World Intellectual Property Organization in Geneva.

On July 14, 2022, the 63rd series of meetings of the Assemblies of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) opened in Geneva. The delegation of the Eurasian Patent Office led by the EAPO President Grigory Ivliev takes part in the Assemblies.

Grigory Ivliev supported the statements of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus regarding unilateral illegitimate measures in the field of intellectual property taken by a number of states. According to the statement, various kinds of cooperation “freezes” are contrary to international law, destructive in nature and constitute non-performance of obligations of respective states.

“We all have a noble mission to support creativity and innovation. All users of the system, without exception, deserve the predictable and stable work of the intellectual property institution,” Grigory Ivliev emphasized in his speech.

He also noted that sanction measures destroy the existing system and provoke legal uncertainty for the global system for exercising the legitimate rights and interests of right holders and applicants.
