On August 28, 2019, the EAPO delegation headed by EAPO President Saule Tlevlessova visited the Intellectual Property Office of Mongolia (IPOM).

On the IPOM side the meeting was attended by Director General Erdenebat Erdenesuren and Head of the Industrial Property Division Sumiya Urangerel.

EAPO President thanked her Mongolian colleagues for the invitation to visit the national intellectual property office. “This meeting opens up excellent prospects for our cooperation in various areas”, – said Saule Tlevlessova, noting that the prerequisites for this are strong historical ties between the Eurasian region and Mongolia.

IPOM Director General informed the EAPO delegation about the activities of the Office, the international cooperation and the tasks the Office faces in expanding the staff and their professional training.

Mr. Erdenesuren spoke about the state support of IPOM and the state program on modernization of IP legislation.

Presenting statistics on various IP subject matters, Erdenebat Erdenesuren noted the 20% growth in the number of applications for inventions received by the Office this year, compared to the same period last year.

EAPO President introduced the Eurasian Patent Organization and the Eurasian Office and proposed possible options for cooperation with the Mongolian Office, including advanced training of the Office’s examiners, ensuring access of Mongolian centers of technology and innovation support to the Eurasian patent and information system EAPATIS.

Saule Tlevlessova invited Mongolian colleagues to participate in the forthcoming events in Nur-Sultan on September 9, 2019: the Diplomatic conference on the adoption of the Protocol on the Protection of Industrial Designs to the Eurasian Patent Convention and the celebrations dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Eurasian Patent Convention.
