President of the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO) Grigory Ivliev and the Counsel to the EAPO President, one of the founders of the Eurasian Patent Organization Alexander Grigoriev welcomed national patent office’s examiners undergoing training at EAPO.

“ The development of regional IP registration systems today is one of the priorities of the World Intellectual Property Organization. Within the framework of the WIPO Assemblies sessions, a significant emphasis is placed to this matter. Eurasian patent granted by the EAPO is valid on the territory of eight Eurasian states at once. This reflects the interests of the applicants, this reflects the interests of national economies, where patented innovative technologies with great economic potential come,” – the EAPO President said addressing the examiners.

Grigory Ivliev briefly spoke about the activities of the Office, the growing demand for competent IP professionals and the prospects for the EAPO development. He expressed confidence that each of the trained examiners will have a positive impact on the growth in the number of Eurasian applications and patents, as they will learn in practice all the advantages of the regional system of IP legal protection.

The EAPO President spoke about the launch of the pilot phase of accepting Eurasian applications containing 3D models of the claimed IP subject matters, and invited attendees to the first international Eurasian conference “IP Eurasia: Space of Innovation “, which would be held on September 21, 2022 and would be dedicated to the patent protection of medicines, balancing the interests of society, developers of innovative drugs and pharmaceutical companies.

Grigory Ivliev particularly congratulated the trainees who passed the competition for vacant positions of examiners of the Office, expressing confidence that with their help the process of examination of applications would become even more efficient and professional.

The speech of the Counsel to the EAPO President Alexander Grigoriev was focused on the history of the EAPO establishment, long-term traditions and fundamental principles of the Organization’s work.

The training for examiners of the national patent offices of the Contracting States is organized by the EAPO on the basis of the training center of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property (Russian Federation). The course “Specific features of implementation of examination activities in the Eurasian Patent Office” is attended by biotechnologists, physicians and pharmacists from scientific-research institutes, research centers, graduates of higher educational institutions having these specialities. The studies include lectures and workshops with the best examiners of the EAPO Examination Department, as well as with experts from the Patent Information and Automation Department and lawyers of the Office.

The course program will be completed on August 12, 2022.
