On March 3, 2022, EAPO President Grigory Ivliev took part in the opening ceremony of the Rospatent conference “Intellectual Property as an Asset of the Future” at the world exhibition EXPO 2020 DUBAI.

Grigory Ivliev outlined the EAPO’s priorities in the near term at the section «Russia and Eurasia: Common Patent Environment» with the participation of representatives of patent offices of the Eurasian region.

In his remarks, Grigory Ivliev spoke in detail about the development of Eurasian integration in the field of intellectual property, the activities of the Eurasian Patent Organization (EAPO), the advantages and features of the regional system for the protection of intellectual property rights, which allows obtaining one patent valid on the territory of eight EAPO member states.

The EAPO President stressed the priorities of the EAPO’s operations in the near future: increasing the number of Eurasian applications, primarily from the EAPO member states, developing digital services for applicants, creating a unified regional dispute resolution mechanism, and introducing a single Eurasian trademark. Grigory Ivliev emphasized the organization’s readiness for territorial expansion and the admission of new member states. The development of the EAPO Pharmaceutical Register, which recently celebrated the anniversary of its work, and the formation of a common patent examination environment were also named among the priority areas of the EAPO’s work.

— I am firmly convinced that the future belongs to regional systems for the protection of intellectual rights. This gives each applicant and patent owner undeniable advantages both in terms of IP protection and in terms of commercialization of patents in the territory of the participating states. The EAPO is open to broad cooperation with applicants from all over the world and intends to develop mechanisms for integration in the field of intellectual property,” — said the EAPO President.

At the world exhibition EXPO 2020 DUBAI, which is taking place in Dubai, Grigory Ivliev will also visit the pavilions of the EAPO member states and meet with the leadership of the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property.
