On March 22, 2022, President of the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO) Grigory Ivliev met with Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of the Administration of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Zhaparov as part of his working visit in Bishkek.

The meeting was also attended by the Director of the State Agency for Intellectual Property and Innovation under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Rakhat Kerimbayeva, representatives of the Administration of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in charge of foreign policy and intellectual property issues, members of the EAPO delegation.

At the meeting, EAPO President Grigory Ivliev briefed on initiatives aimed at developing the Eurasian Patent Organization, improving the efficiency of the EAPO, and plans to develop cooperation with the Kyrgyz Republic within the bounds of the Eurasian Patent Organization.

Particular attention was paid to the advantages of regional systems for registering intellectual property rights and the initiative to create a single Eurasian trademark, the joint use of digital platforms for the activities of patent offices in the region, the creation of a common patent examination environment and technological solutions that will ensure joint examiners work of the EAPO representatives and examiners from the member states of the Eurasian Patent Organization, as well as the transition to the use of 3D technologies in the offices.

Grigory Ivliev shared his plans to reduce the examination period at the EAPO by further digitalizing the work of the office, hiring new examiners and improving EAPO procedures. The parties also discussed the development of educational programs for the professional development of personnel, the translation of teaching aids in the field of invention into the Kyrgyz language, the participation of young inventors and innovators in the International Forum, which will be held in May this year in Veliky Novgorod.

Akylbek Zhaparov thanked Grigory Ivliev for the visit, congratulated him on taking office, and wished to keep his energy and initiative in his new post. The Head of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic expressed support for the EAPO cooperation initiatives presented at the meeting and expressed hope that new cooperation and initiatives would serve the further development of the national patent office of the Kyrgyz Republic.
