On September 9, 2019, the Diplomatic Conference on the Adoption of the Protocol on the Protection of Industrial Designs to the Eurasian Patent Convention will be held in Nur-Sultan, the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Diplomatic Conference will take place on the day of the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Eurasian Patent Convention (EAPC), the intergovernmental treaty establishing the Eurasian Patent System and the Eurasian Patent Organization (EAPO), and will become a significant historical event in the life of EAPO and the Eurasian region in general.

The Industrial Design Protocol developed at the initiative of the Eurasian Patent Office in cooperation with the national IP offices of the EAPC Contracting States, is aimed at creating a regional system for the legal protection of industrial designs on the basis of a single Eurasian patent valid in the territory of all the Contracting States.

The adoption of the Industrial Design Protocol intends to expand the EAPO functions in the field of legal protection of industrial property subject matters and, thus, increasing the attractiveness of the Eurasian patent system for the benefit of its users and the EAPC Contracting States.

Government delegations of the EAPC Contracting States, representatives of international intergovernmental organizations, regional and national IP offices and other representatives of the intellectual property community are invited to participate in event.
