EAPO President Grigory Ivliev took part in the BRICS HIPO meeting held in Moscow. It was attended by representatives of the BRICS Business Council of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia and Rospatent.

He noted that ensuring the quality of patents and their compliance with international standards is a promising area for sharing experience within the BRICS countries. This year the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO) successfully passed the ISO 9001:2015 certification. It is ready to share its experience and interested in studying the best practices of BRICS offices. The EAPO is already actively cooperating with a number of BRICS member offices.

“I believe that the BRICS patent offices will continue to advance their experience in harmonizing approaches to the examination of inventions. For example, it is possible to exchange experience and practices within BRICS on the examination of pharmaceutical inventions, the protectability of technical solutions involving artificial intelligence and others. TApplicants can greatly benefit from this constructive dialogue between offices. They are our priority,” said Grigory Ivliev.

According to Mr. Ivliev, offices need to more actively participate in the WIPO system to better promote the interests of their applicants and improve international procedures for obtaining IP rights.
