On November 5, 2019, the delegation of the State Agency on Intellectual Property of the Republic of Moldova (AGEPI) visited the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO).

EAPO President Saule Tlevlessova and AGEPI Acting Director General Andrei Popa noted the importance of bilateral meetings to discuss effective ways of mutually beneficial cooperation between the offices.

Saule Tlevlessova and the heads of EAPO units informed about the current development of the Eurasian Patent Organization, the new stage of the Eurasian patent integration of the Eurasian Patent Convention (EAPC) Contracting States, based on the unitary Eurasian design patent, as well as the EAPO intention to seek appointment as an International Authority within the framework of the PCT system.

The AGEPI delegation was apprised of the latest achievements of the Office aimed at reducing the period of publication and granting of the Eurasian patent, including the launch of the ‘instant’ publication of granted Eurasian patents, as well as development of international cooperation on PPH programs.

Briefly discussing the results of bilateral cooperation, including the exchange of patent information and the use of EAPATIS by the AGEPI examiners, the parties expressed commitment for closer cooperation. In particular, the parties discussed the prospects of mutual organization and participation in regional seminars, as well as holding expert meetings.

In concluding the meeting the delegations noted the common historical background and close economic ties between the countries of the Eurasian region and Moldova, and agreed on mutual visits for the coming year.
